What is chiropractic
Chiropractors treat problems with joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they have on the nervous system. Concentrating particularly on the spine, they use their hands to make gentle, specific adjustments (the chiropractic word for manipulation) to improve the functioning of the joints of the spine. Although primarily known for treating back and neck pain chiropractic care is also suitable for shoulder pain and hip pain.
The effectiveness of chiropractic treatment is supported by research as well as by various UK government and medical organisations. Recent guidelines from NICE www.nice.org.uk recommend a course of spinal manipulation for problem backs.
